Bohemians are a very laid back group that have a unique lifestyle and enjoy a wide range of artwork, music, and fashions. They're also a very creative group that often like to mix those diverse styles together to create a relaxed and flawless look. I especially admire this style for home decor and would love to incorporate some bohemian aspects into my new apartment. So here is a list of ten different ideas to create your own Bohemian style at home.
1) Add Candles To me there's nothing more relaxing than lighting a few nice candles when you come home. It instantly makes the room feel peaceful and soothing and is the first step to creating a bohemian vibe throughout your home.
2) Hang A Tapestry As a college student I have had to get creative when it comes to figuring out how to add color and decor to blank dorm rooms and apartment walls, and I've found that one of the best ways to do this is to hang tapestries. They instantly add color and life to the room which is especially important when you don't have to option to paint or use nails.
3) Incorporate Low Maintenance Plants I believe one of the best things that you can do for yourself when decorating your home is to add a few low maintenance plants or flowers. Bringing plants into your home fills a room with wonderful scents and positive energy that instantly make you feel at home.
4) Use A Brightly Painted Showpiece Sometimes when decorating an apartment or home it's a good idea to invest in a brightly painted showpiece to tie the room together by adding color and character to the room. This also comes in handy for dorms that you can't always paint yourself.
5) Use Christmas Lights Using holiday lights are the best way to add that lovely, free-spirited vibe to your room without having to spend a lot of money. They are an easy and unique way to brighten up the atmosphere of a room and create a flawless bohemian look. It's also nice to have that extra lighting option when you want to stay in for movie nights or an intimate setting with a few friends.
6) Layer Rugs Rugs are by far my favorite decoration to buy. That may sound strange, but rugs are an extremely easy way to bring in things like color, balance, and texture to the room. Used correctly, they can also add that boho vibe as well. For example, add a fluffy rug to the room to create that cozy, boho-chic feel. I especially love when people do this by adding soft, faux fur rugs to the area because it looks particularly bohemian.
7) Add Blankets And Throw Pillows I personally love when people add lots of extra pillows and blankets to furniture. Bohemians are known for mixing many different colors and styles together, so mixing and matching different patterns of blankets or pillows creates the look very effortlessly.
8) Use Drapes Drapes could be a great idea to consider when decorating your room. Not only are they easy, but they can also be used to separate rooms and make the room feel relaxing and care-free.
9) Add Some DIY Decor The first thing that comes to mind when I hear of a DIY project is Pinterest! But crafts are not just meant for the Pinterest junkies like myself. Anyone can find a homemade project or painting to add to you apartment. It's a perfect way to create a boho vibe because it adds a unique, personal feel to the environment that you can't always find when shopping in stores.
10) Find Unique Ways To Add Storage The last idea to keep in mind when decorating is to find interesting ways to incorporate storage. This is also very important for college students, because we often have to get creative when it comes to storing everything in such small areas. Anything from painted mason jars, old fish bowls, and vases can be used as storage for things like nail polish bottles. This makes your space very functional while also looking well decorated.
